Sport can be a powerful tool for positive change in young people’s lives.

Besides strengthening their bodies, sports help them hone their minds and build social skills.

Youth development is one of Kumba Iron Ore’s Kolomela mine’s strategic focus areas. The aim is to empower the youth by creating access to opportunities aimed at holistic development so that they can contribute positively to society.

Football is currently the sports code with the most registered members and active players in Tsantsabane. For this reason, Kolomela has been supporting the Tsantsabane Local Football Association (Tsalfa) to drive football development programmes in the community.

Part of this assistance was the donation in May 2018 of a minibus and trailer to safely transport players and their sports kit to matches. The minibus will also be used to transport referees to workshops and seminars.
