During the termination of an intelligence-led Operation Vat Alles which commenced during the early hours of Friday 02 November 2018 in the Frances Baard and John Taolo Gaetsewe clusters, numerous successes were achieved by the SAPS during the execution of the operation.

 

According to Captain Sergio Kock from the SAPS provincial corporate communication office, three male suspects were arrested separately and goods worth approximately R3.5-million were confiscated by the SAPS.

 

Operation Vat Alles focused on the recovery of stolen or car jacked vehicles, the illegal possession fire arms and ammunition, stock theft and wild life.  

 

The operation included visits to various residential addresses in Delportshoop, Kathu and Dingleton.

 

Various specialised units under the command of the JTG Cluster Commander Major General Johan Bean included personnel from the Frances Baard, John Toalo Gaetsewe and ZF Mgcawu offices, crime intelligence unit, provincial organised crime unit, vehicle crime investigation unit, TRT, public order unit, criminal record and crime scene management, trio task teams, stock theft units, tracking teams, K9 units, provincial corporate communication and provincial legal services who were part of the teams that executed search and seizures and arrests at the respective identified premises in the three towns.  

 

Numerous successes were achieved by the teams who executed the actions simultaneously in the three towns.

 

In Kathu one 42-year-old male suspect was arrested for the possession of one unlicensed firearm, 62 rounds of ammunition, two empty magazines, laptops, computers, cameras, modems, cell phones, 2400 euros and two Vervet monkeys. The police also recovered five alleged stolen vehicles on the property. The suspect appeared in the Kathu Magistrates Court on Monday 05 November 2018.

 

In Dingleton police arrested a 46-year-old male for being in possession of two alleged stolen vehicles and two unlicensed fire arms with ammunition. The suspect also appeared in the Kathu Magistrates’ Court.

 

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Risimati Shivuri, stated that the police are reclaiming the space captured by criminals. He also stated that he is confident that these perpetrators will be brought to book as the SAPS continues to imprint the authority of the state. He warned criminals that he will not allow them to make a play ground of his province and police members will flush out all criminals.

 

Lieutenant General Shivuri also thanked all SAPS members who had performed duties during the execution of this operation for their professional conduct and sterling crime detection and investigation.
