As agriculture has become one of the most important economic drivers at subsistence level, the Joe Morolong community is making a paradigm shift to ensure they reach commercial level in the production of livestock.

The local municipality in collaboration with the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform and the Department of Agriculture donated thirty bulls to ward one and two respectively as part of the Agri-Park initiative to uplift emerging farmers. This is the program earmarked for emerging farmers in support of the dedication to the agricultural sector development and transformation.

The mayor of Joe Morolong, councillor Dineo Leutlwetse said, “This is one of the programs that ensures our emerging farmers become successful commercial farmers, actively contributing to food security in our communities.

The mayor also congratulated ward 1 Councillor Naomi Gomolemo representing Heuningvlei and Mr Tonyane from the Department of Agriculture who worked tirelessly to make sure the program becomes a success. “These are not only economic success stories for our emerging farmers, but for the entire communities around them.

We need such dreamers in our midst, people who have a vision based on benefiting the broader community.  As a collective we can achieve a lot of successes. Let these bulls be a stepping stone towards achieving our farming aspirations”, said Joe Morolong Local Economic Development Officer Mr Kabo Kenosi.
