
On Thursday 22 November 2018 the Provincial Commissioner of Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Risimati Shivuri hosted the annual Provincial Excellence Awards at the Flamingo View in Kimberley.
The purpose of the event was to recognise and appreciate police officials for going beyond the call of duty in ensuring that the communities are and feel safe.
The awards include categories such as AET learner of the year, reservist of the year, sportman of the year, person with disability of the year, policeman of the year, policewoman of the year, best station of the year, best administration employee of the year, best visible policing employee of the year and best senior manager of the year amongst others.
The event was graced by the Premier of Northern Cape Ms Sylvia Lucas, the Executive Mayor of Frances Baard Mr P Marekwa, the MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison Mr Lebogang Mothlaping with several other MECs and Lieutenant Generals from National and Provinces. The Northern Cape Premier, Me Lucas and the Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Risimati Shivuri also had the opportunity to honour members with their special awards.
The winners received trophies and certificates and vouchers while runner-ups received certificates and vouchers. The Premier gave the keynote address. She appreciated all members who are always willing to go an extra mile and urged others to also play a role in the fight against crime.
