On Saturday, 8 February 2020, Kathu I played against Kuruman Cricket Club in the JTG 50 Over Premier League at Kathu Cricket Club.

Unfortunately, the Promotional League match between Kathu II and KEW was abandoned due to the wonderful rain on Friday night.

Kathu I batted first and lost wickets just as the batsmen seemed set. Two club veterans, Damian Joseph and Gerrit Cloete, took the game away with some big shots, to ensure a very competitive target. It was then the turn of the bowlers, with everyone chipping in to ensure a comfortable victory.

Kathu I vs Kuruman: Kathu I – 254/7 (40), Damian Joseph 62* (32), Gerrit Cloete 36 (21) and Layton van Zyl 3/61 (8). Kuruman – 71 all out (21.4), Ashton Schultz 22 (33), Gerrit Cloete 3/11 (6), Etienne Botha Jnr 3/24 (5) and André van Schalkwyk 2/20 (2.4).

Kathu I won by 183 runs.

Man of the Match: Damian Joseph for his knock with the bat and very impressive bowling figures of 1/16 (8). Well done Boksie!
