Local Afro pop singer scoops award
Victor Mulangisi
Community development is indeed lacking in this area. This is evidenced by what Boitshepo Marumoagae from Thamoyanche has achieved in Gauteng. A true virtuoso in Afro-pop music she had to go Johannesburg to cultivate her talent and rightly so came back wielding a treasure-laden award with her first album.
The young lady released her first album in 2018, “RE Ya Jiva” (We are dancing) and it scintillated judges on its release. The Mzansi Kwaito House Music Awards (MKHMA) an annual event that showcases upcoming musicians held in Carnival City was hypnotized by the melodious lyrics by the Northern Cape female star from the John Taolo Gaetsewe region.
In an interview with Boitshepo, she said that it has been her dream to explore her musical voice which was being cherished by many, and felt inspired.
“My untapped talent fell into the right hands because my producer of Lahlamlenze Records Company DJ Skhumba from Limpopo motivated me further saying, “There is a diamond hidden in you and we want Mzansi to know it clear and loud”. Encouraged and elated I gave it a trial with all the energy. Under his advice I went through the rehearsals with determined confidence until the album was released.
When we listened to the album, I could not believe the solo album was indeed mine. When cast out for votes it further set disbeliefs because it was inundated with endorsements which meant the album was composed in the best interest of my target listeners”.
My producer and I are working on the second album and hopefully this one will attract more listeners and would encourage my followers to keep their ears on the ground around February 2021 for a sizzling new release. For bookings: djskhumba@ymail.com or 082 625 9320.
