HAWKS NAB SUSPECT FOR FRAUD
A 52-year-old man Alfred Ndlovu appeared briefly at Kuruman Magistrate court on charges of fraud and Contravention of Identification Act.
According to the Directorate of Priority Crimes Investigations (Hawks) the arrest emanates from the alleged defrauding of the Ga-Segonyana Municipality to the tune of R2.5million in August 2016.
Following that act, a case of Identity fraud was also established.
“Further investigations by the Hawks Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team and Home Affairs Immigration office, it transpired that the suspect submitted false information whilst applying for identity document and passport. As a result, he obtained identity document and passport through misrepresentation,” said Hawks spokesperson Nomthandazo Mnisi.
She added that Ndlovu has been remanded in custody and that the case has been postponed to 12 November 2020 for a formal bail application.
