Van Druten Open Championship

From 30 to 31 January 2021 the annual Van Druten Open Championship at Sishen Golf Club took place.

Players from all around the Northern Cape and Free State came to participate in this event, there was a full field of 96 players. The tournament forms part of the Northern Cape schedule to accumulate points to make the Senior Northern Cape team.

According to the golf payers, it was a tough two days with a course that had its teeth out for them. On Friday, 29 January 2021, it was also announced that Sishen Golf Course has made it to the top 13 courses in South Africa, so that gave the tournament a little bit of a kick as well.

After the 3 rounds of golf, the players had, local – Theunis Spangenberg also Golf Director at Kalahari Country Club winning the tournament on a score of 6 under par (-6).

He would like to thank all organisers and Franco Vermeulen the greenkeeper from STM (Southern Turf Management) and his team for a fantastic course.
