EFF replaces defiant councillor

The old adage, “Make hay while the sun shines”, came to fruition to the former ward two councillor Malebogo Disang of Bankara Bodulong. The councillor is said to have crossed the line of protocol within the party structures, warned reprimanded but as nature dictates, who can change the sound of a nightingale?
She was finally axed from the party and council. This was confirmed by the swearing-in of councillor Selina Keodihetse Lesley on December 9, 2021. The new councillor was a candidate in the 2016 local government in the same ward and had garnered the second highest votes hence she was considered to replace the expelled councillor.
The EFF used election the previous results to determine a replacement as a very transparent form of recognising the effort an individual put to the organisation. Asked what she is to bring as transformation to the party, the new councillor said that the party needs numbers to overcome prevailing challenges affecting her ward and the country as a whole.
“While I am so sorry with what happened to my predecessor, I promise that in politics as in business we are guided by policy statutes. I will abide by the rules and regulations that govern the party. My first priority is to ensure that the party garners more new members in preparation for the next elections. While there is smooth rise of numbers of membership, members are stimulated to see their leaders at the forefront of the recruitment drive”.
