FDM launches menstrual health management project

Petra Diamonds Finsch mine launched a menstrual health management project at a number of schools in the Kgatelopele local municipality on Friday 06 November 2020.

The aim was to ensure that the most vulnerable young girls experience menstruation with dignity.

Each gift pack included three re-usable sanitary towels, which the girls can use for up to two years, as well as an information booklet with information to correctly use and clean the product. The booklet also included guidance on how to manage the challenges of the menstrual cycle.

Members from the Finsch Diamond Mine (FDM) Women in Mining Forum and the FDM management team assisted with the handing out of the gift packs to the girls at the schools.

The Managing Director of Gracious Nubian, Euodia Naanyane-Bouwer, gave a talk at each school on how the girls can face the challenges of menstruation with dignity.
