Mayor receives water rollers

Victor Mulangisi

The Ga-Segonyana local municipality received two hundred twenty-litre hippo water rollers on behalf of the broader community under his constituency on November 24, 2020. Appreciating the good work done, Didiba Water Supply’s manager, Mr Boitumelo Nkwe and South32 mining house he said this was a pleasing gesture.

He said that councilor will take concerted effort to ensure that deserving recipients receive the hippo rollers. He said that the water rollers should target mainly those staying very far from the source of the water. “As I receive these hippo rollers today, I must be very clear that councilors must play a very decisive role in the distribution process, said Mr Nkwe.

“We have elderly people in different villages who are very far from water sources. These are the people to consider in the distribution of these water rollers. These are limited quantities and should be given to highly deserving people, I mean the elderly. We should stop the tendency of giving ourselves first on things that are clearly defined to benefit certain classes of society,” said Mr Nkwe.

It shows that we have become insensitive and disrespectful. I can’t sit on a chair when my father is sitting on the rough surface, that is the order of our Africanism. Councilors must identify people who are five hundred metres away from water sources and it must be an old woman or man first”, explained Mr Nkwe.

In the recent weeks, a similar donation was done to Joe Molong and Gamagara local municipalities respectively by the same donors who felt that water access was a challenge and came up with this brilliant idea-ostensibly aimed at helping the rural community.
