The solar energy generated Kelebogile Trust is becoming more of the “department of education” due to its massive involvement in this sector.

Speaking to its trustee member, Mr Charles Symons, on the sidelines of the handover of the mobile classrooms, ablution facilities and desks on October 25, 2018 at Sishen Intermediate School, the erudite accountant was bold enough to say that, “Education and socio-economic development of this region is our focus area.”

Mr Symons went on to say that, working with the Department of Education and in liaison with the local leadership, the trust feels greatly mandated to assist where there is dire need. The trust consults with the community at large and had also received requests whereupon the trustees then prioritised education as the primary vehicle for development.

The humble request made by the mayor of Joe Morolong local municipality, Councillor Dineo Leutlwetse, about the acute shortage of classrooms in some schools in the region and the specific needs of the recipients made this day possible.

“We are spending sparingly in running our office so that we can render better service to the community. This is the purpose of this trust : To develop and help out the community,” added Mr Symons.

Attended by the MEC for Education, Martha Bartlett, and regional officials that included Circuit Manager Mr Mpho Malele, during the handover of two mobile classrooms and two ablutions at Sishen Intermediate School in Kathu, the MEC said that Kelebogile Trust is resonating within the lines of fulfilling the pragmatic call for public private partnership to its fullest.

“The learner / teacher ratio is no longer tenable and this has had a direct retro effect on the education system. Your assistance in this direction is part of an answer that my department is struggling to render to each and every school. As government, we need such kind of partnership where education is the convergence zone of investors eager to develop the community,” the MEC said.

The delegation further went to Hotazel Combined School where a similar consignment was officially handed over to the school, before doing the same at Debe Primary School.

The beneficiary school principals expressed great relief at the donations by the trust.
