Introducing Kathu High School’s principal
During the year-end prize-giving ceremony of 2020, the new principal of Kathu High School was announced.
Here is mrs Linda Holm’s letter that she wrote to the Kathu Gazette to share her vision for the future of Kathu High School:
As 2020 rolled to a close with new “buzz words” like “the new normal”, “pandemic”, “social distancing”, and many more we faced an even more uncertain 2021.
As the opening of schools was pushed forward survival mode kicked in and with the support of a new and very capable SMT we have put in place very effective systems.
I have a very clear vision for Kathu High School: We are building for future excellence for every learner that has chosen to be in KHS.
When a part of the human body is lost other parts compensate and grow stronger. Thus, during these strange times, our sports and social activities may have been curbed, but we have the opportunity to excel in many other areas.
Accountability, responsibility, and ownership of our work as teachers also lies with learners, parents, and our community.
We ask that parents take note that, with our limited resources, you join our Facebook pages – Hoërskool Kathu High School and Kathu HS Catch Up; also, D6. WhatsApp groups for subjects will be created as soon as class lists are finalised and as the need arises.
We cannot turn a blind eye to technology.
All general communication from the school will happen via these platforms.
Ons weet dat 2021 vele uitdagings sal hê maar met eienaarskap, aanspreeklikheid en verantwoordelikheid sal Hoërskool Kathu sukses nou en in die toekoms behaal.
