The John Taolo Gaetsewe Developmental Trust has kept its lantern burning for the less privileged communities. On July 31, 2018 the trust handed over a three bedroomed house to an old lady, Ms Finch Tlhomelang in Heuningvlei. Handing over the house, the trust’s chief executive officer Mr Tumelo Mpolokeng said that the trust works across all local municipalities. As a result; councillors identify members of the community in dire need of such assistance where the trust comes in and render its constitutional mandate.

The trust built the house and furnished all the rooms including the kitchen. The Joe Morolong mayor councillor Dineo Leutlwetse attended the handover ceremony as the distant village falls under her constituency including the councillor Ms Naomi Mokwene who identified the recipient and approached the trust for assistance. The blessed lady who hardly hears was staying in a shanty with her children was so happy and her children could not hide their pleasure.

The mayor thanked the trust for its consistent reputation towards helping deserving communities. Mr Mpolokeng said that his heart is always willing to provide for the less privileged and that remains the flagship of the local trust. “As long as resources are available we cannot neglect our parents and that is a standing tradition. We look at every situation brought to the trust, hence we finally built this house. The trust’s helping hand cuts across Ga-Segonyana, Joe Morolong, John Taolo Gaetsewe and Gamagara municipalities. We have a desire to assist many families in our midst but at times resources are overwhelmed by demand”, said Mpolokeng
