On 1 February 2020 the Kathu Juniors travelled to Bloemfontein to play against St. Andrew’s Primary School.

It was a unique opportunity for the boys to play at one of the top schools in the country. The matches also gave the boys a chance to test themselves against new opposition and most importantly, the opportunity to make new friends and memories.

Kathu Juniors played really well with all the boys contributing towards a win in the 35 over match and the first T20 match. The second T20 match ended in a very tense tied match, with a run out on the last ball. Matches like these will stand the team in good stead in the future. After the formal matches the boys made mixed teams with St. Andrew’s to play a fun T10 match to end off a great weekend.

Kathu Cricket Club would like to thank St. Andrew’s School for hosting us with such distinction. Thank you to the personnel and coaches for all the effort to make this fixture possible. Everyone enjoyed the weekend filled with fun. Kathu Cricket Club looks forward to host St. Andrew’s School at the end of the year.

Also, a big shout out to the parents who travelled all the way to support – it is much appreciated. Thank you to the sponsors that made the trip affordable for all the players.

Kathu Cricket Club is very excited about the cricketing talent in the region. It bodes well for the future!
