Four suspects, aged between 21 and 26, have been arrested and charged with murder.
According to Captain Olebogeng Tawana from the SAPS provincial corporate communications office, it is alleged that the suspects accosted a 55-year-old man, in the Kuruman CBD, robbed him of his belongings and then pushed him underneath a moving truck.
The suspects were seen wrestling and pushing the victim underneath the moving truck, which fatally wounded him. The suspects fled away from the scene, after the incident.
Three of the suspects were pointed out by the eyewitnesses and they were arrested while still roaming around in the CBD. During the investigation shortly after the arrest of three suspect, the information led the police to Tshwaragano Hospital where the fourth suspect was being treated for injuries he sustained when they wrestled and pushed the victim underneath the moving truck.
The Kuruman police are on the trail of the fifth suspect, who is still on the run.
The SAPS Kuruman has opened a case of culpable homicide against the truck driver. The truck driver failed to stop after the incident. The reason for this action, that could have made him to drive away from the scene after the incident, is not known to the police. The SAPS is appealing to him to report himself to the nearest police station where he could assist them to resolve the case.
