
Premier and MEC launch new fleets
On 14 December 2020, the Premier of the Northern Cape, Dr Zamani Saul, together with the MEC of the Department of Health, Mr Maruping Lekwene, launched 75 new emergency vehicles, consisting of 65 ambulances and 10 patient transport vehicles, as well as 55 clinical outreach bakkies to strengthen the delivery of health care services to communities in the province.
The launch demonstrates the 6th administration’s commitment to the promise of unwavering services to the people of this province. The vehicles will increase capacity in rendering effective and efficient emergency medical services, including inter-hospital transfers and planned patient transport services.
On 11 December 2020 the Premier together with the MEC of the Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison, Ms Nomandla Bloem, handed over 25 VW GTi`s at R415 000 each and 5 Isuzu double cabs at R369 000 each.
The value of this resource allocation amounts to R12,3-million to the Provincial Traffic Department. These vehicles which will be used across the province to ensure that the department reinforces its approach towards law enforcement operations.
