Kathu, Kuruman, Deben, Hotazel, Black Rock, Daniëlskuil, Lime Acres, Postmasburg, Olifantshoek and surrounding villages.

This could be a year resplendent with positivity in many ways and, we collectively ought to say “Thank you” in advance to the Almighty. One, there are no false blankets in the sky throughout the region and province. The sound of lightning and thunder brings every farmer closer to glorified certainty that crops, pastures are nourished and sufficient water to sustain agricultural projects.

To those who studied geography, the clouds called cumulonimbus are associated with thunderstorms and heavy precipitation, these are thick clouds occurring at an altitude of about 500-16000 metres which result in the much-anticipated rains. Enough rains in this region and beyond disentangle economic challenges that currently affect our livelihoods and sustainability. Commerce and industry thrive too because arguably, agriculture is the chief driver of the broader economy, there is enough water which is the nerve centre of productivity.

Two, this could also mean a lot in the direction of the trending subject throughout the world, vaccines, vaccines and vaccines. The advent of this disease has deflated economies due to its gravity to humankind and calls for a new paradigm shift of business operations. Continued lockdowns mean stunted growth to the world economy and new ways have to be devised to circumvent its total collapse.

The vagaries brought by the Covid-19 to the entirety of the globe remain the greatest nuisance in every corner. The words of wisdom that we must share as a collective, either affected or infected by this marauding pandemic “Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal”. The new developments around the introduction of vaccines by individual countries is an encouraging step towards a different “New normal” and thumbs up to researchers.

This new normal is ironically surrounded by skepticism and a litany of fallacies and myths in circulation. In the presence of researchers, clowns are the first to receive public attention. As we continue to fall victim to the disease, it is incumbent upon us to abide by the rules and regulations governing the arrest or control of the disease. Let us continue wearing masks, washing our hands, maintaining social distancing until the therapeutic vaccines knock at our door steps.

Whether these vaccines are from Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm or Sputnik and etc, government cannot sell its citizenry with thirty pieces of silver to the suspected wolves. If the world has joined in the vaccination league, who are we to isolate ourselves and on whose tangible reasons?

The dust raised by the sheep does not choke the wolf. Individual whims and caprices are subordinate to what the world has deemed ideal to remedy the catastrophe facing humanity. The harsher second strain of Covid-19 means the introduction of vaccines is necessary. As we open our different sectors in the new year let us take precautionary steps in ensuring that we minimize the spread of the virus and maximize production to resuscitate the wounded economy. We hope these vaccines will come to our recue and emancipate business from lockdowns.
