On receiving an invitation with the topic – Give It Back – day; from Ratang Thuto High School, I was not sure what to expect.

As the programme unfolded, the talent and what the learners “gave back”, became clear and was an experience.

On 13 March 2019 at Ratang Thuto High School, the programme took place from 10:00 where a representative and donour from Public Investment Corporation, mr. Adi Mathai, the principal, mr. L. W. Limani, the vice-principal mrs. Patricia Makgoka – who was also the program director, four councillors and a few of the staff of the municipality had been observed, some parents and teachers were among the people present.

The opening Scrip treading and prayer was done by Rev. Andrew Matalong of the Roman Church in Postdene.  “Unity in plural and the power of prayer” was part of the captivating message.

Then the “actors and important part of the program” in their neat school uniforms filled the rest of the hall orderly. After that, there had never been

a dull moment as the programme started with the school choir and the items followed one after the other.

A short mentioning of important items on the program were the speeches: The Mayor of Tsantsabane, mrs. Mpho Mashila, who is also a former student of the school, addressed the school. Also, the SGB chairperson of the school and the key note speaker from Public Investment Corporation, mr. Adi Mathai.

Wonderful items fascinated the audience: the school choir, a cultural item, scouts, gumboot dancers and an item imagining lively elderly people dancing with kieries and aprons – were some of the presentations.

A decorated cake, with the name of PIC on one side and the emblem of the school on the other side of an open book, was a special gesture.

The learners of Ratang Thuto “Gave Back” in abundance – and the audience enjoyed every moment. Thank you to the staff of Ratang Thuto from where the initiative came from.
